The weekend will be packed with entertaining, erudite and edifying discussions, panels, lectures and workshops featuring over 150 speakers from the world of education, business and entertainment.

The Festival programme features all the trending issues in education, such as coding, free schools, league tables, pupil behaviour, internships, brain science, quality of teaching, tuition fees, happiness and well-being in schools, and how to make our schools even better.

It’s also there to bring you stories of adversity, ideas that provoke, new research, rising stars, sage voices, unique experiences. All our speakers join us to celebrate and challenge teaching, learning and the life of the mind.

The full programme will be posted on the website soon.

Last year's Festival of Education, or 'the educational Glasto' as it has been affectionately dubbed, was a huge success, with nearly 2,000 people at Wellington College over the weekend. If you came but missed some of the great sessions we had, or couldn't make it, read reports of some of the key events, written by a team of student reporters from the Masters course in journalism at City University who were covering the event for us.

Why come?

Because education matters.

Come because the Festival will offer the rare opportunity for those genuinely interested in education to gather together to listen to and exchange views with politicians, educationalists, school leaders, think tank experts and media personalities on the topics that matter.

Come because whether you are a student, a teacher, a parent, a politician, a stakeholder in education-related business, this Festival will offer you the chance to get involved and to hear what the leading thinkers consider to be the way forward for education in this country.

Come because the Festival will be full of intelligent and entertaining presentations that will provoke discussions on education topics which interest, incense or motivate us all.

More about the weekend

On Arrival

On arrival at Wellington College, Festival goers will exchange their registration confirmation emails for their tickets at the registration desks. On registering, we will provide you with a free leaflet detailing the layout of activities and the full event programme, details of which will be regularly updated on this website. Students will be required to provide I.D. if a student ticket was booked. There is free car parking within Wellington College grounds, and stewards will be directing cars accordingly on site.

Refreshments

There will be a variety of refreshments on sale throughout the Festival. A range of options for lunch will be served in Wellington’s famous and beautiful Prince’s quad, where a lunchtime buffet, bbqs and a bar will be provided. Meanwhile, the Victoria and Albert café will be open all weekend selling a range of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks. There will also be tea, coffee and cookies available in the Festival marquee.

Children

Children able to behave well and sit quietly in sessions are welcome to come to the Festival. We suggest that children aged 12 and over are most likely to enjoy the day. We don't recommend that you bring babies or young children as there are no creche facilities or amusements for them at the Festival.
