Secretary of State For Education Speaking At Festival!

Lord Kenneth Baker to deliver keynote speech on University Technical Colleges.

We are delighted to announce that the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP will be addressing the Festival on Saturday 3rd July and that Lord Kenneth Baker, former Secretary of State for Education, will give the keynote speech on Sunday morning at 10.30am

Mr Gove will discuss government plans for education and take questions from the floor.

Festival goers will have a unique opportunity to ask the questions that matter to them about the future of education in this country.

This will be one of the first occasions that the Secretary of State has appeared at such a public event, so, if you have a passion for education - perhaps as a headteacher, classroom practitioner, parent or student - then this Festival is for you. Rather than closeting the experts away to discuss the big ideas, the doors are thrown wide open for us all to engage with a wide variety of topics. This really is the first venture of its kind where high profile speakers share information, argue policies and challenge opinions for the benefit of a public audience. Can you afford to miss out?

Lord Baker will be arguing the case for the growing importance of vocational skills in education.

So if you want to know more about the science of learning, are keen to discuss the challenge and reward of school leadership, want to debate the status quo of current school models, or simply want to learn how to make Shakespeare fabulous for young people, then you need to come along.

Full details of the programme and the speakers are available on this website.

Be part of the debate. Hear the latest thinking. See where education is heading.
